In Nursery, we are working on developing our number recognition and we try and incorporate this in as many daily routines and activities as possible from counting 'how many children are in school today', to jumping on the caterpillar numbers in the playground. As you may know, we have encouraged the children to find the 'Number of the Week' in their homes and we appreciate your engagement.

Numicon is a resource we use to help your child have a visual image of number as well as recognising number and value. It is a multi-sensory way of learning, which means your child learns by seeing and feeling, as it is tactile and brightly coloured, making it attractive to children. We try to use Numicon as much as possible and it is available for the children to play with in any area of the nursery.
