From our EPIC planning sessions with the children, we have used their fantastic ideas to plan our topic for the Summer term. 

In the Oaks A department, our topic is 'The Blitz'. Our topic will involve pupils learning about the Second World War and the important historical figures who influenced past events. They will research, using both books, the Internet and other sources, the causes and effects of war and how people lived.

The children will be writing Newspaper reports about the Blitz, with consideration to the 'Who, the what, the why and the when'. 

In maths and Numeracy, the children will be learning about 'measurement' and 'rationing,' with a view to learn about how people were limited to the amount of food they were allowed/ entitled to due to National food shortages.

Science and Technology will focus upon creating WW2 shelters and we will use the outdoors as much as possible to enhance learning experiences.

For Expressive Arts, pupils will recreate pictures/ paintings from the Blitz, with consideration to buildings in Swansea before and following some of the Blitz bombings.

We hope to hold a VE party at the end of our topic to share what we have learned and celebrate our work.
