Language, Literacy and Communication

StorytimeAs you will know, we have sent home storybooks with the children. Story time is such a valuable activity for you to enjoy with your child. It provides a chance to talk, to help your child develop skills in oracy, communication, imagination, building relationships and listening. These skills form the foundation for every other skill that your child will learn so enjoy these special moments with your child. The expectation is for enjoyment, not 'learning to read'. Talk about the pictures, ask questions and try to link things in the pictures to home and family, giving your child opportunity to chat. Please return the story books on a MONDAY and we will change the books with the children, ready to send home again. ENJOY!laugh

Singing with nursery children is a very important part of our day. They are a powerful learning source, by using bite-size snippets of entertainment, they help to develop a love of early literacy and enable children to become interested in the rhythm and patterns of language. Share these rhymes with your children at home and let us know your children's favourites!
