We Make a Great Team

Welcome to our STF class page
We are a Special Teaching Facility which provides support for junior age pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties. Admission is through the local authority SEN panel where advice and recommendations are considered. We support pupils in all areas of their learning in a small, nurturing environment and also help them to spend time with their peer group; taking part in whole school and community events at their own level.
In our class:
Reading Records will be need to be brought in every day. We encourage all our children to read at home and change their books in school as often as possible. In addition we have lots of opportunities for shared reading and use of packages such as 'Reading Eggs' (make sure you get your child's password off us so they can use it at home too).
PE kit will be needed for every Wednesday.
We don’t send homework every week but we will send you regular messages to remind you how to help your child’s learning at home. Please see our Twitter posts to keep up to date with what’s going on in our class.
Reading to, and with, your child will help to encourage them to develop a love of language. Bedtime stories, rhymes and songs are all great ways to encourage them to develop their listening skills and help them to speak in sentences. Activities that can help them to develop their motor skills include learning to ride a bike or helping you to bake and wash the dishes afterwards. Come and talk to us about ways you can help your child to learn in school.
We like to use this page as a 'window into our world'; please take time to look at the galleries for each term and to let us know if there is something you would like to see.
We love to learn together, with our pupils, each other and our parents.
Visual Resources
We constantly work towards meeting the needs of all of our pupils. This means that we often create visual reminders or templates that help children individually or as a class. One example is 'social stories' that help our children to understand what is expected of them in a new or daily situation. We send copies of individualised stories home for parents to work on at home.
We worked together as a staff team, with our pupils, to create the green, red and amber track that helps all of children understand how to stay safe and be respectful to each other every day by making good choices for themselves. We use this daily in the classroom and have developed games to support children's understanding.
In this section of the class page we share some examples that you are welcome to use at home.
If you are a parent would like us to personalise for your child please get in touch.
If you are a practitioner and would like us to share with you through Hwb let us know.
