THRIVE!
Our Thrive journey in Cadle explores and follows the theories of Child Development. In Nursery, we have fun with our Thrive activities, using one-to-one experiences, as a class or as a whole school approach.
In nursery the needed developmental experience is:
Exploring and experimenting - Experiences - Initiating, engaging and doing
Learning targets to work on:
- Children are willing to learn through doing and trying out different activities. (Exploring and experimenting)
- Children enjoy times of peacefulness and quiet. (Exploring and experimenting)
How to be (Strategies) for this plan
- Be accepting and empathic, making it clear that mistakes can be learning opportunities.
- Model curiosity by communicating how exciting the world around us can be when introducing an activity to a child with interest and enthusiasm.
- Notice and talk with a child about things they are curious about and becoming interested in.
What to do (Activities) for this plan
- Create opportunities for the child to discover and extend what their body can do. For example, stretching, curling and jumping.
- Listen to music, audio-books, stories and rhymes together.
- Junk model making; link this to a shared story.
