Thrive
We believe that every child needs to feel valued, involved and appreciated in order thrive and develop healthy, curious minds and be happy, confident and creative.
During our Thrive approach lessons we will be supporting children with their emotional and social development, including understanding how to develop healthy, trusting relationships and become more resilient whilst developing skills to overcome difficulties.
Our Thrive Actions this term are....
Expressing a view - Learning about cause and effect - Feeling, thinking and problem-solving
Chosen learning targets to work on:
They are learning to express their feelings safely and appropriately (for example, fear, happiness, anger, sadness). (Expressing a view)
Chosen How to be (Strategies) for this plan
When you are aware that a child seems to be preoccupied or worried make time to explore what it is about.
When a child is confused or struggling to express themselves, wonder and put into words what you think may be going on. Check
with the child if you have got it right by using sentence starters such as, 'I'm wondering if...', 'I'm imagining that...' or 'I noticed that...'.
Chosen What to do (Activities) for this plan
Create a regular space and time when you and the child tell each other about your day.
Cut pictures from the magazines of people expressing any kind of feeling. Provide glue and ask them to use the images to build a ‘feelings collage’
